first annual favorite things girl's night out

This was probably one of my most favorite parties to attend.  If you're looking for a fun night with your girlfriends this is the party to throw!  My friend Kiana and I threw our First Annual "Favorite Things" party not too long ago.  The day of the party we were thinking this might be the first and last, but I'm ready to plan another one. :)  Everyone brought their favorite $10 item and we all left with one of our friend's favorite things.  It was a great way to hear feedback about all these great products I had no idea about!  Some of the new things I've fallen in love with are Essie nail polish, Victoria Secret smudge proof eye liner, and Enjoy hair mask.  Thanks ladies for the recommendations and thank you Oprah for the inspiration behind the party. 

The menu consisted of:

Nordstrom Tomato Basil Soup

Creamy Cheddar Broccoli & Potato Soup

Parmesan Crostini

Mixed Berry Salad

Southwest Chicken Salad

Shirley Temple Bar

And of course we had to end the evening with a dessert bar that included mini chocolate cupcakes, fruit salsa and cinnamon chips, raspberry panna cotta, mini carrot cupcakes, meringues, mini milk and doughnut shooters, and raspberry brownie skewers.

It was hard to get pictures, because it was so windy and we had to set everything up at the last minute due to the wind knocking everything over.  Despite the wind it was a great night!  Thanks to everyone who came and mucho thanks to everyone that helped baked, set-up and clean-up.  So glad to call each one of you my friend!

 

fifty happens

My ultra fabulous mamasita turned fifty today.  We celebrated her birthday a few days early since she would be out of town on her actual birthday.  My mom is the most selfless person I know and I was so excited to pay tribute to her all night long.  Here's a quick peak of the night and thank you to the very talented Mandy Frehner for capturing the evening so perfectly!

Happy Birthday, Mom!  Jaron, Keaton, Tomsen and I are so lucky to call you mom.

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Fun Part 1

May 5th is my step-dad's birthday.  What better way to celebrate than with a fiesta?!  Guests were greeted by Mariachi music (thank you Pandora) and mustaches at their place setting.  The weather was perfect for eating outdoors.  I love Las Vegas this time of year.  Here's what the menu consisted of:

Carne Asada & Chicken Taco Bar (complete with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, corn, black beans, pico de gallo, salsa, sour cream and guacamole)

Assorted Mexican Sodas (mmmm, so much better with real sugar cane)

Candy Apple Red & Damask Baby Shower

A few weeks ago my party planning bff and I threw our good friend, Beca, a shower in honor of her baby girl.  I had a blast planning this party with Kiana.  Throwing a bash with her is easy as pie.  We're always on the same page, and our ideas work really well together. 

The menu consisted of "Tasty Turkey" sandwiches replicated from Einstein Bagels, Citrus Salad, Kettle Chips and mini pickles.  The Shirley Temple Bar was a hit in addition to the dessert bar that consisted of Panna Cotta, Strawberry Shortcake Trifles, Heart-Shaped Brownies, Mini-Cake Doughnuts, Cherry Cheesecakes, Mini Chocolate Cupcakes, Red Velvet Whoopie Pies and Doughnut Holes.  (A big shout-out to her family that each made something to make this table complete). 

The festivities went down just before Valentine's Day, which was the inspiration behind the color scheme.  We also had a table to decorate a hair piece for the new babe.  Some people were pretty creative!  Congrats Beca and welcome Baby Grace!

sweet 16

Limelight coordinated a birthday party for one of the coolest 16 year olds I know, who just happens to be my cousin. Working with Garett was a blast!  He was involved with almost every detail of the party, and had a lot of creative ideas to help make his party most memorable and unique.  Some of my favorite highlights included: the wall of Gatorade's (Garett's idea to represent the first letter of his name), Yogurtland, a 16 year old friendly bar with a super cute bartender, the screaming teenage girls that loved spending every minute with Garett, the moving present he received (which later we found out was a hamster), and the venue.  The party was held at his dad's house, which is absolutely gorgeous and THE perfect party place.

Trish Strobehn Photography took so many fabulous photos, as you can tell from this really long post.  It makes all the difference to have a talented and experienced photography at your event. I love her work and would recommend her to anyone needing a photographer in the future!  Also, a big shout out to DJ Shai who kept the party going all night long, well at least until curfew.  After this party I won't be recommending any other DJ.  I loved his style and he helped make the night seamless.

happy birthday

Mr. Palacios did a great job arranging a surprise party for his cute wife, who is truly one of the sweetest people I've ever met.  Their backyard has a great view of a private golf course, which made it easy to decorate.  Mrs. Palacios' style is simple and elegant so we decided on a silver and plum color palette.  Dinner was catered by Florida Cafe. We added to the menu...shrimp cocktail, fruit skewers and candied pecan summer salad.  P.F. Changs did a fantastic job on her cake...can't go wrong with The Great Wall of Chocolate!

I debated even posting these pictures.  I didn't have a camera so we resorted to my husband's iPhone camera. They're pretty bad quality,so to all my photog friends...don't judge me!

I was so excited when two of my closest friends got engaged and even more excited when they asked me to help with some of their wedding details.  Chad and Karol are super creative and did a lot of things on their own, which I loved. I think it's great when couple's work so closely together on wedding plans...it makes it so much more memorable!

Not only are they creative, but drop dead gorgeous as well. Karol looked absolutely beautiful and Chad looked very GQ in his suit.
